Good morning brothers and sisters, and a very big hello to all my #RebelFam and #RebelArmy before we begin let us open in prayer,
“Father we thank you for the blessed new year and a new beginning, We thank you for wiping the slate clean and letting us start fresh and with a renewed hope, Thank you Father for the G.O.A.T present that you have bestowed on us, our brother and your son Jesus Christ, thank you for giving us that bridge back to you, back to Holiness, and allowing us to be washed clean by his perfection and HIS SACRIFICE, we are humbled at your might, and HIS love, we strain, we reach, we seek to be just like your son but we fall short, and it’s through HIS LOVE, HIS SACRIFICE that we are able to continue on our personal journey, The Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Spirit is what gives us the strength and the drive to continue. Bless the people who continue to join the ministry here and continue to hear the words that YOU Father, lead me to say. And all his people said Amen”
Let us turn to Isaiah chapter 43 verses 1-3 and 18-21 for our reading today, this passage says “But now, this is what the Lord says he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. 3 For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. 19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. 20 The wild animals honor me, the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen, 21 the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.”
I felt that this passage was very appropriate for us today, we’ve been through the floods, the fires, and we have all come out still kicking, and still breathing, for some, the season can be very cruel and unforgiving, because they don’t put their faith and love into the ONE that the season is about, they’re more concerned about the depression, the loneliness, they focus on all the dark in the world instead of what the season is really about, A Light that God gifted us at the darkest time of the year.
Others focus on how many gifts they can give or receive, and not being able to provide for others or not having others care enough about them can trigger some harsh feelings about the past season, but in this passage, if we take it to heart, really read into God’s word and understand the full meaning, none of that matters, because even though we’ve been through the floods, the fires, HE is still here for us, and HE didn’t let those things get to us. NOW we can “Forget the former things, and not dwell on the past” “I am doing a new thing, now it springs up, do you not perceive it?”
In this passage, although he is addressing Jacob, HE could be addressing any one of us, we are coming to the end of the time for Celebration, and cheers, the new year has happened, it has come and now we are 24-48 hours into this fresh beginning and HE, OUR Father is telling us to let the past go, to move forward because HE is doing a new thing, and HE wants us to see it, “perceive” it.
Revel in these moments, treasure them, because we get a brand new year, new life, new challenges, new reasons to give thanks and worship HIM the way HE deserves. We are rewarded with the birth of Christ, We get to read and hear Christ’s teachings, parables, and all the important words that HE has spoken time and time again with new ears, a new vision, we get to start this new year with an open heart, and a new outlook on what our life could be. God loves each and every one of us and now is the time to show HIM the love and respect we have for HIM, by studying the passages in a new light, with better understanding, and more wisdom than ever before, we’ve had a year to grow in spiritual maturity and grow closer to the Father who gave us life.
Forget about New Year’s resolutions, we never stick to them anyway, forget about trying to stick to healthy diets, and “going green” and everything that we fail at, instead, let’s make promises, promises to read the bible, promises to grow in spirit as well as faith, make promises to each other to be better people, to understand each other and get to know others on a deeper level.
By sacrificing our time for someone else, by giving up our predispositions and judgments about others and working together to make our communities better, working to a better, brighter year, to put aside differences, and become one HUMAN RACE, we can embrace this new year just as God our Father has intended us too.
By putting away our depression, our anxiety, by walking in other people’s shoes so to speak, we just might understand something about our fellow humans, that we’ve never experienced ourselves, and draw them closer to us just as we can draw closer to them.
We have a brand-new year, brothers and sisters, I challenge each and every one of you to step out of your comfort zone and make a promise to make an impact on someone’s life this year, help them learn something new, help them stand on their own two feet, go the extra distance to show them the love they may not have felt before.
Let us pray “ Father your passage, your teaching today is such a powerful message, I know it has other meanings and can be used for any context, but Isaiah just seems to fit right here at the new year where it belongs, let us study it, absorb it’s meaning and give us strength to do what we have all be challenged to do, step out of our comfort zone and spread the word that we are changed, we are whole because of you, let your presence radiate from us, and may others be moved by the power you grant us. Thank you for the living word, thank you for your Son, and thank you for the parables and teachings, YOU are MIGHTY, and we will worship your holy name forever and always Amen.”
