Our Burdens are HIS Burdens!

Our Burdens are HIS Burdens!

Brothers and sisters let’s start today with a word of prayer, “Heavenly Father, we come to you today whether it be from our homes, our workplace, or hanging out online to ask that you enter our hearts, clear our minds, and open us up to new possibilities, we ask that you prepare us for the word in which you have give guidance and help us understand fully what is said here today. In your Holy and High name, we pray, Amen”

Now that we have properly opened ourselves up and have offered ourselves to the Lord so he may do with us as he pleases. Let’s jump in with a word of scripture, and don’t worry there will be more to come.

Matthew chapter 23 verses 1 through 39 “Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses' seat, so practice and observe whatever they tell you—but not what they do. For they preach but do not practice. They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on people's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to move them with their fingers. They do all their deeds to be seen by others. For they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long”

God doesn’t want us to be burdened brothers and sisters, let’s hear that again, God Does Not Want Us to be Burdened! Isn’t that a crazy concept? We have all these worries, all these fears, all this baggage that is too hard to bear sometimes, and here’s God saying, don’t be burdened, give it all to me and I’ll take care of it. I mean c’mon Our FATHER, our MIGHTY and RIGHTEOUS FATHER tells us, Don’t Be Burdened, give me all your baggage and you will never have to carry it, you will never have to bear it, if you give it all to ME, my children, then you never have to worry again.

Do we though, do we trust the Lord so much that we completely and fully surrender to HIM every little thing that bothers us or worries us? What does HE mean give it all to me? Do we just give him the big stuff because God is too important to be bothered with the little things? NO, HE commands us to turn all, ALL our burdens over to HIM, and we will live a peace-filled life.

All through the bible, we see periodically how people didn’t trust the Lord and they turned to their vices for help rather than simply trusting. The largest instance that comes to mind is Exodus chapter 32 verses 1 through 35 “When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron and said to him, “make us gods who shall go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.” So Aaron said to them, “Take off the rings of gold that are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.” So all the people took off the rings of gold that were in their ears and brought them to Aaron. And he received the gold from their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool and made a golden calf. And they said, “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!” When Aaron saw this, he built an altar before it. And Aaron made a proclamation and said, “Tomorrow shall be a feast to the Lord.”

They had no faith in the Father, or Moses, not even Aaron, Moses’ brother. They build a calf made out of gold, they build an altar and they worship this false idol as the God that freed them.

All throughout the Holy Book brothers and sisters, God says give everything to him.

Psalms Chapter 55 verse 22 “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.”

Matthew chapter 11 verses 28 through 30 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Hebrews chapter 12 verse 1 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and the sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,”

Philippians chapter 4 verses 6 and 7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Psalms chapter 38 verses 4 and 21-22 “My guilt has overwhelmed me, like a burden too heavy to bear. Lord do not forsake me; do not be far from me, My God. Come quickly to help me, my Lord my Savior.”

In this last verse the first question that comes to mind for me is, is Job praying to God? If we read the full chapter, we find a lot of similarities, “my wounds fester” “my back is filled with searing pain” and “even the light is gone from my eyes” but it is surprising to know that this is A psalm of David, and David is bearing everything that has happened to him and asking God to bear his burdens. This is exactly what we should do.

Brothers and sisters God doesn’t give us anything that we can’t handle on our own, HE and HE alone knows the strength that we have inside, and HE and HE alone knows what our breaking point is. We’re never supposed to reach that point though, God is with us, and HE will help all we have to do is lay bare everything that worries us, concerns us, frightens us, and weighs heavily on our shoulders, if we trust the LORD 100% with all our hearts, we will live a peace-filled life and nothing will move us.

Let’s Close in prayer today. “Father God, thank you for the blessings and grace, thank you for testing us and keeping us on the right track, thank you for bearing our burdens so we don’t have to, we give thanks to you our Great Spirit for keeping us safe and watching over each and every one of us. Thank you for your words today as they always speak true and to the point, You are our Great Father, and we simply thank you for being. In your Highest and Holy name, we pray, Amen.”
