Putting God First

Good afternoon brothers and sisters, and a very big hello to all my #RebelFam and #RebelArmy I know it’s been a long time since I’ve posted and the reason for that is that I’ve been busy I have been working on getting my house clean, signing up for school to get a BA in theology, and I haven’t had time to sit and meditate strictly on my faith and God. You all know me by now my sermons are spirit led and if I can’t hear or feel the spirit of God then I can’t write, I need HIS wisdom and HIS guiding hand to help me with my sermons, and yeah there are periods in my life when I feel led to write every day, then I might go a month or three, or even sometimes a year without writing anything and it’s because I’ve either gotten busy or I’ve cut myself off from God unintentionally, meaning I didn’t mean too, it just happened.

I am only human, just like all of you Brothers and Sisters, we all have our sins, and our faults, and we all get busy and can’t just seem to find the time to do our work, right? I know there are not enough hours in the day to cover the things we need and want to do, and then as time goes on things happen, things come up, and we eventually end up putting ourselves last, after God, Family, Friends, Work, Church, we are just so far down the list that we never get to do things for ourselves.

Let’s open with prayer today “Dear Father, forgive us, forgive us for all the things we do that cause us to sin, forgive us for not putting you first in our lives, Forgive us Lord for the things that take us away from you, for you are worth our time, energy and praises, without you we are lost, so thank you Father for everything you do for us and for your mercy, grace and forgiveness. In your holy name, we pray, Amen.”

Today we are going to talk about putting God first, In Matthew chapter 6 verse 33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

In Proverbs chapter 3 verse 6 proclaims, “In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success,

In Romans chapter 8 verse 5 we read “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.”

Psalm chapter 46 verse 10 “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

There are many, many more chapters and verses that speak on this subject, but if I went over all of them now, I would be talking forever. Basically, that is the message of the entire Bible. It’s a love note. Simply put, “God loves us,” and we need to “put God first.”

I can tell you, but you’ve seen it firsthand, I am a huge procrastinator, and I have trouble following my own words sometimes, I have problems with a lot of things but following the teachings of Jesus and listening to my own words when I speak is so very hard sometimes, but that’s why I write these sermons, I write them for you brothers and sisters, and I write them for me because sometimes I just need to hear the truth, we all do.

That’s why I love Psalm 46 verse 10 “Be still and know that I am God” because sometimes I do need to be still so I can hear what God has to say, so I know I am doing right and going down the right path, the path HE has laid out before me. That’s something we should all do, practice quietness and meditation and the answers will come. God always answers us.

1 John chapter 5 verses 14-15 “And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.”

John chapter 15 verse 7 says “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”

Mark chapter 11 verse 24 says “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

As long as you ask in prayer, where two or three or more are gathered, what you ask as long as it is not selfish or of this world will be granted to you. This doesn’t mean you can just ask God for a new Xbox or a new car and it will be given… No brothers and sisters, but if you ask in righteousness for healing, protection, or other things that you may need, those will be granted to you.

Let’s close in prayer today.

“Father God please forgive us for the wrong things we do, forgive us for our sins and transgressions, thank you for opening our hearts today, and let us take time to reflect on Your teachings Lord, we thank you for the things we have and we thank you for waking us so we may enjoy your word and works Lord. in your holy name Amen”
