The Battle for Life: God’s Image under Attack
Opening Prayer
“Heavenly Father, Almighty God, we come before You this morning with hearts that long to honor Your creation. Lord, You are the giver of life, and You knit each of us together in the womb. We acknowledge that there is a battle raging in this world, a battle for the lives You have made in Your image. Protect the unborn, Lord; guard the hearts and minds of our children; shield them from deception, confusion, and the lies of the enemy. Give us courage, wisdom, and strength, O Lord, to stand for life, to speak Your truth boldly, and to defend the most vulnerable among us. Fill this place with Your Holy Spirit, and let every ear hear, every heart receive, and every soul be stirred to action for Your glory. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.”
Introduction: A Battle Like No Other
Brothers and sisters, let me tell you something: we are living in a time of spiritual warfare like no other. Every generation has faced challenges, but today, the enemy is attacking life itself. He cannot touch God, but he can attack what God loves the most—His creation, His children, His image-bearers.
Today, we confront this truth. We will see how the enemy attacks life through abortion, deception around gender, and the corruption of innocence. And we will learn how God calls us to stand boldly, armed with His Word, prayer, and courage.
I. Satan’s Hatred of God and His Creation
Psalm 139:13-16 (NIV) says:
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb…Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
And Genesis 1:27 (NASB) declares:
“So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
Brothers and sisters, God’s creation is intentional. Every life is precious. And Satan hates it. If he could destroy God, he would. But he cannot. So, he attacks God’s creation—the most vulnerable among us.
Let me tell you a story. A friend of mine recently visited a maternity ward. She saw tiny babies, some barely a few weeks old, fighting for their lives, yet surrounded by love. She told me, “How could anyone deny these little ones life?” And that is exactly what the enemy wants—he wants to blind hearts to the miracle of life and steal what God has given.
II. Abortion: The Sacrament of Satan
The enemy whispers, “You must die so I can live.” But Jesus says the opposite:
John 10:18 (NIV): “No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again.”
*NASB: “No one takes it away from Me, but I lay it down voluntarily. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again.”*
Brothers and sisters, Jesus came so that we might live. Satan comes to destroy that life. Abortion is not just a policy or a personal choice; it is spiritual warfare.
Can I get an Amen?
Psalm 127:3 (NIV) reminds us:
“Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.”
Every child denied life is a heartbreak to the heart of God.
III. If Not the Womb, Then the World: The Attack on Our Children
When Satan cannot reach life in the womb, he attacks it after birth. Gender confusion, “gender-affirming care,” and the distortion of identity are tools to undermine God’s design.
Genesis 5:2 (NASB) tells us:
“He created them male and female, and blessed them; and named them Man when they were created.”
And Jesus in Matthew 19:4-5 (NIV) says:
“Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’?”
Parents, take heart: the battle is real, but God calls you to protect, teach, and lead your children in the truth. Speak life. Speak love. Speak the Word of God.
IV. The Cost to God
Isaiah 1:15-17 (NIV) warns:
“When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Your hands are full of blood! Wash and make yourselves clean. Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed.”
God sees every child harmed, every family broken, and every lie whispered into a young heart. And He calls us to act, to intercede, to stand for life, and to protect the vulnerable.
V. Our Call to Action
Ephesians 6:12 (NASB) tells us:
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
We fight with the Word, with prayer, and with action.
- Prayer: Intercede daily for unborn children, for teens, for families, and for the Church.- Truth: Speak God’s Word into homes, schools, and communities.- Action: Support ministries, laws, and initiatives that protect life and God’s design.
Let me tell you a story: a local church in our city began hosting parenting classes, crisis support for mothers, and mentoring for teens. Over the course of a year, dozens of children were spared, dozens of families strengthened, and dozens of lives redirected toward hope and God’s purpose.
Can I get an Amen?
VI. Hope in Christ
Romans 5:8 (NIV) tells us:
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Psalm 34:18 (NASB) reminds us:
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Through Christ, we can heal, restore, and redeem what the enemy seeks to destroy. And through Christ, we can be instruments of life, truth, and hope in a darkened world.
VII. Closing Exhortation
Stand firm, brothers and sisters. Protect life. Honor God’s creation. Speak truth boldly. Let your lives testify to the sacredness of life from womb to eternity.
Can I get an Amen?
Closing Prayer
“Heavenly Father, Lord of all life, we thank You for the gift of Your Word and for the clarity You give us to see the enemy’s schemes. Father, we lift up the unborn, the children, and the vulnerable in our world. Protect them from the lies, the deception, and the attacks of the enemy. Strengthen us, Lord, to stand boldly, to speak the truth, and to act as Your hands and feet in a world that is under siege. Restore the image of God in our hearts and in our homes. Fill us with Your courage, Your wisdom, and Your love, so that we may defend life, honor Your creation, and proclaim Your glory in all we do. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.”
